If you are a first-generation and/or income-eligible student, what has your experience been like at UCSB?

As a 1st generation student learning about the resources available was difficult but with the help of FSSP and working with EOP helped me in connecting with a lot of resources I needed for my academic success.

What would you like to share with students about your experience at UCSB?

My experience at UCSB has been a mix of a lot of things. It can become overwhelming at times but you have to keep pushing yourself to achieve your goals. I have enjoyed watching sunsets by beach and late night walks the most.

Top tips for fellow students?

Something that I learned from my two years at UCSB is to make a schedule and try to stick to it. In the schedule set aside time for studying, hobbies, and for mindful activities. Make sure that you stay on top of things and stay focused.

Best advice you've received that has helped you at UCSB.

When you know the why of what you are doing it becomes easier to achieve your goals.

Why did you choose to be an EOP peer mentor/office assistant?

EOP helps students to succeed in not just their academics but also in their personal growth. That's why I wanted to continue to be a part of the team that helps students like myself.
