If you are a first-generation and/or income-eligible student, what has your experience been like at UCSB?
As a first-generation student at UCSB, I have had to constantly remind myself that I am worthy of taking up space in intimidating academic spaces. Practicing gratitude is the best tool to navigate these unfamiliar environments.
What would you like to share with students about your experience at UCSB?
You’re here for a reason and you wouldn’t be here with opportunities presented if you couldn’t handle it. Pour your energy into people who support you and prioritize your own happiness.
Top tips for fellow students? (Study tips, self care hacks, fav resources on campus, etc)
Find a hobby outside of academics and get involved with the Santa Barbara local communities. There’s more to life outside of our academic bubble here on campus.
Best advice you've received that has helped you at UCSB.
Rejection is redirection! It may feel like the end of the world when plans don’t work out the way you thought they would, but it happens for a reason and you have to believe that there is something better for you.
Why did you choose to be an EOP peer mentor/office assistant?
I have been so lucky to receive help in the past from the faculty in the EOP program and I want to give back to my community!
