If you are a first-generation and/or income-eligible student, what has your experience been like at UCSB?
My experience as a first-generation student at UCSB has been wonderful, though it didn’t start out that way. In the beginning, I struggled with feeling out of place, lost, and alone. However, as I pushed myself to get more involved with various clubs and took advantage of resources like CLAS, the food bank, CAPS, and reaching out to TAs and classmates for help, I gradually adjusted to the lifestyle. Over time, I’ve grown to love UCSB and truly appreciate the community and support it offers.
What would you like to share with students about your experience at UCSB?
My experience at UCSB has been incredible so far! UCSB has truly been a place where I’ve been able to grow in ways I never imagined, challenging me to push beyond my limits while providing the support I needed to succeed. I’ve become a better version of myself in every aspect, and the memories I’ve made here are some of the most cherished of my life. I’m excited to continue creating more as the years go by.
Top tips for fellow students? (Study tips, self care hacks, fav resources on campus, etc)
One of my biggest study tips is to explore all the different buildings and hidden spots on campus. During midterms and finals week, when the library and more popular study areas get crowded, these quieter spots can be a lifesaver. Another tip that has really helped me succeed is to prioritize self-care and take breaks when needed. Long study sessions can be exhausting, and if you’re like me and find it hard to focus for more than 30 minutes at a time, taking a walk by the beach between classes or relaxing on the grass in front of the library can help clear your mind. These breaks can refresh you, making the rest of your day more productive and fulfilling.
Best advice you've received that has helped you at UCSB.

Why did you choose to be an EOP peer mentor?
I chose to become a peer mentor for EOP because it was one of the most helpful and supportive resources available to me during my time at UCSB. EOP provided a place where I felt genuinely supported and heard, which made a significant difference in my college experience. Because of this, I wanted to give back to the student community by becoming a peer mentor and helping others navigate their own college journey.
