What would you like to share with students about your experience at UCSB?

My experience on campus has shown me that there are so many events and opportunities to get involved in, and it really feels like there’s something for everyone if you just look. Don't be afraid to reach out, advisors are helpful, seniors are truly very approachable and often eager to advise you too, and peers and other people are always willing to support you.

Top tips for fellow students? (Study tips, self care hacks, fav resources on campus, etc)

Study with friends even if they are not in the same class as you; having company helps you feel accountable for your actions. Just always do your best and know that it is enough. Good self-care tips would be mandating breaks for yourself, maybe meeting a friend or going on a walk at a fixed date and time once a week at least. My favorite resource is the Food Bank; they have a lot of snacks, plants, and groceries available for students to take. Another is CAPS, which provides assistance for mental well-being if you feel like you need it or want it.
Best advice you've received that has helped you at UCSB.

Very clichéd, but advice from my high school principal was to give everything a fair shot and to step out of your comfort zone. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the value of stepping outside of your comfort zone. Trying new experiences has brought me a lot of joy, and it’s helped me find friends in unexpected places.

Why did you choose to be a member of the EOP Team?

I chose to be a member of the EOP Team because it gives me a chance to help students find their home away from home and build a community for themselves here at UCSB. I want to be able to help other students by helping them learn about aspects of campus that could benefit them in any way.
