The Chancellors Scholars program is a university scholarship program administered by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships in coordination with the Education Opportunity Program (EOP). The scholarship is limited to incoming freshman who have graduated from high schools in Kern, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. The selection is based on freshman's  GPA reported on the students' admissions application and demonstrates financial need based on information from the students' FAFSA/Dream application. There is no application process, all recipients are selected internally based on what was shared above. The annual scholarship amount is $3,000 and is renewable for up to three years as long as the student continues to meet renewal requirements.

Requirements:

Students are required to maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and to meet with the EOP counselor on a quarterly basis. Once the student attends their quarterly meeting, the EOP counselor notifies the OFAS scholarship coordinator and the quarterly portion of the scholarship ($1000) is input into the student’s financial aid award letter so that the funds are disbursed to the student’s BARC account. Student’s are also required to engage in campus activities/events yearly.

“Being selected as a Chancellor Scholar has enhanced my overall college experience! With all of the academic, moral, family, and financial support I have been able to

Being a Chancellor Scholar has provided me with the opportunity to improve my academic and personal experience at UCSB. Through in-person events organized by the Scholar’s program, before the pandemic, and one on one meetings with my EOP advisor, I was able to expand my networking skills. They assist you with questions on how to reach out to professors, look for any type of resources, and find a community on campus with other first generation and underrepresented students. Also, the financial award definitely takes a load off from the students and helps us to focus on academics and extracurricular activities! Now, EOP staff tries to accommodate students' needs by establishing and providing virtual advising meetings and events where the students and staff could still develop and feel the UCSB sense of community.
